Job description:
- Assist library users in becoming familiar with locating books, materials and media in the library
- Help library users find material to meet their needs
- Check books and materials in and out to library users using library management system
- Maintain records of overdues, lost books, and fines.
- Shelve print and media materials and keep the library in good order
- Provide support for cataloguing of new material to the library collect and process new material so that it is ready for shelving.
- Mend damaged books and materials
- Maintain patron barcodes/information
- Perform a variety of clerical tasks as assigned
- Translated documents into Vietnamese as required
- Assist librarian with class and other scheduling
- Assist in training of volunteers in circulation procedures
- Support the librarian with the supervision of students using the library
- Encourage students and staff members in using the library through supporting a range of library based activities.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Job requirement

Knowledge of:
- Modern office practices and procedures, including filing systems, receptionist and telephone techniques, and library correspondence as directed by librarian.
- Dewey Decimal System
- Basic reference books and media found in a school library
- Computer applications related to the work.
* Skill and Ability to:
- Follow standard library practice, terminology, and procedures and to understand library terminology.
- Perform general clerical and keyboarding duties
- Organize and prioritize work
- Maintain order and discipline among students using the library
- Establish and maintain friendly, cooperative and effective working relationships with all persons contacted in the course of work.
- Train and supervise volunteers
- Follow oral and written instructions
- Use correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Job description:
Responsible for the development of a quality College library service catering for the current and future needs of all staff and students. This includes planning and selection of appropriate furniture and library fittings, selection and acquisition of new resources in all formats, including online information (in close liaison with teaching staff), accessing and effectively utilizing all information resources including the Internet, collection organization and cataloguing, circulation, literature promotion and advice, reader advice and displays

Responsible for all library staff supervision, professional development and organization
 Responsible for budget submissions and management of the budget for the library
 Responsible for the development and promotion of the BISV Internet Access Agreement and Policy
 Responsible for the supervision in the library of students
 Work in co-ordination with all teaching staff at BISV to support both collection development and the appropriate use and promotion of library resources, to meet timely curriculum needs for all subjects at all levels in the school.
 Undertake the advocacy and teaching of Information Literacy to all students in the school, and to staff and parents as needed. The teaching of Information Literacy skills is accomplished in co-ordination with teaching staff of all subject areas and levels
 Attendance at Heads of Department Meetings as appropriate
 Supportive of general school activities
 Liaise with Learning and Media Resources Manager 

Job requirement

 Vietnamese
 Completed a Degree or Post-Graduate qualification in Librarianship
 Previous experience working in a library essential, preferably in an educational institution
 Experience with staff supervision, budget management and policy development
 High level of competence in computer applications including Windows, Word, Excel and Publisher, and database applications such as library management systems or Access
 High level of competence in the research use of the Internet
 Ability to effectively assist students and staff in their use of library resources, including the library catalogue, book resources, CD-Roms and the Internet
 Ability and interest in teaching Information Literacy skills to students of all ages, and to staff and parents as needed. This includes both the development and delivery of appropriate lesson plans and courses
 Interest and skills in the development of school Web information
 Very organized and independent worker, who is able to problem solve, and to constructively and proactively improve library systems and services
 Interest in reading fiction and an ability to promote and recommend books, authors and reading
 Ability to conceive and mount relevant library displays
 English fluency is required
